The status is still officially SUSPENDED. We did have two meetings with the Mayor, one at the end of November of last year and the other the first week in January of this year. We have seen some positive response from the Mayor addressing some of the issues we brought up with him so we are optimistic that we may not have to move forward with this action.
TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEDFORD, TEXAS: PETITION FOR RECALL OF MAYOR JAMES GRIFFIN
We, the undersigned registered voters of the City of Bedford, Texas, in accordance with Article XIV of the Charter of the City of Bedford, Texas, entitled Recall, do hereby petition for the recall and removal of James “Jim” Griffin(“Griffin”) from the office of Mayor for his failure to demonstrate effective leadership that is responsive to the Citizens of Bedford, TX and on the grounds of his ongoing failure to meet certain goals of the Mission Statement of the City Council of the City of Bedford, TX, which are specifically to “be responsive to the needs of the community,” to “provide for a safe and friendly community environment” and to “protect the vitality of neighborhoods.” Griffin’s actions as Mayor of Bedford, TX over the last seven (7) years have done just the opposite – he has ignored the will of the citizens, preferring instead to bow to the will of developers.
